Title: 강적들 (强敌) / Kang Jeok Deul
Also known as: Powerful Opponents / Rivals / Adversarie
Chae Rim as Cha Young Jin
Lee Jin Wook as Kang Soo Ho
Lee Jong Hyuk as Yoo Gwang Pil
Choi Ja Hye as Jung Yoo Min
Cha Young Jin is the only female in her batch who work as bodyguard in the Presidential resident, Chungwadae. As the only female, during the training almost all of her fellow trainees always concede to her except Yoo Gwang Pil. Because of the rivalry, Young Jin and Gwang Pil dislike each other.
After become the official presidential body guard, Young Jin and Yoo Gwang Pil are assigned as partner to watch over the president’s rebellious son, Kang Soo Ho. They are assigned to guard Soo Ho for 15 months.
As they work together through the ups and downs, Young Jin and Gwang Pil turn from enemy to become a very good partners. Meanwhile, Soo Ho slowly falls in love with Young Jin and determine to win her heart and change from his rebellious and ignorant attitude to become a better person. Whereas, the cool and introvert Gwang Pil have his own reason which restrain him from expressing his feeling to Young Jin even though he cares for her very much.
On the other hand, Young Jin has no idea that Gwang Pil and Soo Ho are actually shared a dark past that has been kept secret for years by the people around them.
My Comment :
The only reason that made me finished watching this drama, were because of Chae Rim, the good performance of Lee Jong Hyuk, the eye candy Lee Jin Wok (although in my opinion he just looked good in the last few episodes when his character became a nice person and he appeared clean shaven) and the good performance from others supporting casts, including the child actor,in this drama.
Perhaps the scriptwriter of this drama thought of focusing the story on the characters’ profession as bodyguard rather than the romance/love story. However, the storyline were too weak which I think, made the drama become less impressive.
As for the love story, I am the supporter of Young Jin and Gwang Pil tandem. Although he is less good looking than Soo Ho but, Gwang Pil has a very charismatic character that makes him attractive. I did not like Soo Ho at first as he was way too childish and gave so much hard times for both Young Jin and Gwang Pil as his bodyguards. I just started to like this character after he became a good person. However, I think that the writer was seemed to me favour Soo Ho more. Although the storyline were quite different, Young Jin and Gwang Pil had passed so many good and bad things together as partner more than what she did with Soo Ho, in my opinion. However, at the end, although the ending is vague but it looked like Soo Ho had more chance to win Young Jin’s heart than Gwang Pil (is it because Lee Jin Wook is the lead actor? I have no idea as well). With such an ending I also had no idea who Young Jin really loved, Gwang Pil, Soo Ho or she actually chose her career than both of them..Overall, I am kind of upset with the ending of this drama.
Anyway, the other thing that I like about this drama are the OSTs. That’s why, although it is not my favorite drama but I still will make the MVs.
Also,Ryu Jin and Han Go Eun , the couple from Capital Scandal made their cameo appearances on the last episode also as Lee Soo Hyun and Cha Song Joo (the characters they played in Capital Scandal).
